Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-05-25
By using Mr. Handy you agree to these terms. They're the contract between you and us. They cover what the service is, what you're allowed to do with it, how subscriptions work, and the limits of our liability — especially around physical repair work. Read the safety section.
1. Who we are
Mr. Handy is operated by Lino Agency LLC ("we", "us", "our"), a company incorporated in Georgia, USA. Postal address: 30032 Gardner Drive, Alpharetta, GA, USA 30009.
2. What Mr. Handy is
Mr. Handy is a guided-repair app. You point your phone's camera at a problem, the app identifies what it is, walks you through the steps, and uses AI vision to check that each step looks complete before you move on.
Mr. Handy is an informational tool. It is not a substitute for a licensed contractor, plumber, electrician, or any other professional. We'll say this again in the safety section.
3. Your account
You agree to:
- Provide accurate information when signing up, and keep it accurate.
- Keep your password (if you use one) confidential.
- Be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age set by law in your jurisdiction if higher (16 in some EU member states). If you're between that age and the age of majority where you live, you must have permission from a parent or guardian.
You may delete your account from inside the app (Profile → Delete account) at any time. We may suspend or close your account if we believe you've broken these terms.
4. Safety — important
Mr. Handy does not replace professional judgment. Many home repair tasks involve real risk — electrical shock, gas leaks, structural failure, water damage, falls, chemical exposure.
For this reason:
- Mr. Handy will refuse to guide you through tasks we classify as high-risk (e.g. electrical panel work, gas line work, structural changes). We do this in-app by blocking the job before it starts. Classification is best-effort and uses AI — if our model fails to identify a high-risk situation, your responsibility to assess safety still applies.
- For the tasks we do guide, you remain responsible for assessing whether you have the skills, tools, permits (if any), and physical ability to safely complete the work.
- The AI's "step verified" signal means our model thinks the work looks correct from a still photo. It is not an inspection. It does not certify code compliance, structural integrity, or long-term safety. If you are unsure, stop and call a professional.
- You are responsible for following all manufacturer instructions, local codes, and safety guidelines for any tool, part, or material you use.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Mr. Handy to do anything illegal or to harm yourself or others.
- Attempt to bypass the safety blocks, reverse-engineer the verification model, or otherwise interfere with the service.
- Submit content (camera frames, audio, text) that contains another person without their consent, or that is unlawful, hateful, or violates anyone else's rights.
- Scrape, copy, or resell our content or AI outputs at scale.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to accounts that we believe are engaging in any of the above, with notice where reasonably possible.
6. Your content
The camera frames, audio, and notes you submit through the app belong to you. By submitting them, you grant us a limited licence to process them for the purpose of providing the service — running them through our AI classifiers, storing proof photos with your job records, showing them back to you. We don't use your content to train AI models, and we don't share it with advertisers. See the Privacy Policy for the full list of third-party processors.
7. Our content
The Mr. Handy app, including the guided-job content, the AI prompts, the brand, and the design, is our intellectual property. You may use it personally to complete your own repairs. You may not republish, scrape, or resell it.
8. Subscriptions, billing, and free trial
Free tier
Mr. Handy offers a free tier that lets you start up to 3 guided jobs per month. No payment information is required for the free tier.
Pro subscription
Mr. Handy Pro is offered for US$30 per month (recurring) with a 7-day free trial. Pro removes the monthly job cap and includes any future Pro-only features.
Free trial and automatic conversion
You will not be charged during the 7-day free trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid Pro subscription at the price shown when you signed up, and you will be billed for the first month. Subsequent billing happens automatically each month until you cancel.
Cancellation and refunds
If you subscribed in the iOS app (via Apple In-App Purchase), you manage and cancel your subscription through Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple, not by us, per Apple's Media Services Terms. Cancelling stops the next renewal but does not retroactively refund the current billing period unless Apple decides otherwise.
If you subscribed on the web(via Stripe), you can cancel from your account billing page. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro access for the rest of the billing period you've already paid for. We don't offer pro-rated refunds for partial months, but we do honour refund requests on a case-by-case basis — email [email protected].
Price changes
If we change the Pro subscription price, we will notify you at least 30 days before the change takes effect (via email and in-app) so you have time to cancel before the new price applies.
9. Disclaimers
Mr. Handy is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the AI's identification or verification will always be correct. We do not warrant that a repair completed following our guidance will be safe, durable, code-compliant, or sufficient for any particular use. You use the app at your own risk.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law,we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or property damage arising out of your use of the app — even if we've been told such damages were possible.
Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the service is capped at the greater of (a) the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) US$100.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded — including, depending on jurisdiction, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or for any other liability that applicable law prohibits us from limiting. Some jurisdictions don't allow some of these limitations. To the extent any of the above is not enforceable where you live, it will be limited or excluded only to the minimum extent required.
11. Termination
You can stop using Mr. Handy at any time. Deleting your account is the cleanest way — it removes your records (see the Privacy Policy for the timeline). We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, with notice where reasonably possible.
12. Changes to these terms
If we make substantive changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and notify you in the app the next time you sign in. Continued use of Mr. Handy after a change means you accept the updated terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Georgia, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that can't be resolved through the dispute-resolution process in section 14 will be brought in the competent courts of Georgia, USA, and you agree to that venue.
14. Dispute resolution and arbitration (US users)
Read this section carefully — it affects your legal rights.
Before filing any formal claim, you agree to first email [email protected] with a description of the dispute and to try to resolve it informally for at least 60 days.
If we can't resolve the dispute informally, any claim arising out of or relating to these terms or the service will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, with the arbitration seated in the federal judicial district that includes your residence (or, for users outside the United States, Atlanta, Georgia). Judgment on the award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.
You and we both waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action, class arbitration, or other representative proceeding. Claims may only be brought on an individual basis.
30-day opt-out: You can opt out of this arbitration section by emailing [email protected]within 30 days of first accepting these terms, with the subject line "Arbitration Opt-Out" and your account email in the body. If you opt out, the rest of these terms still apply to you, and disputes are handled under section 13 (Governing law) instead.
Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking injunctive relief in court to stop ongoing harm (e.g. IP infringement, security threats) or from filing a small-claims action in a court that has jurisdiction over small claims.
15. Apple-required terms (iOS users)
When you use Mr. Handy on iOS, the following terms apply between you and Apple Inc. in addition to the terms above:
- These Terms are concluded between you and Lino Agency LLC only, and not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Your licence to use Mr. Handy is limited to a non-transferable licence to use the app on any Apple-branded device that you own or control, as permitted by the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
- Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app. Any questions go to [email protected], not Apple.
- To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no warranty obligation with respect to the app. Any warranty claims, including product liability, claims that the app fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection or similar legislation, are the responsibility of Lino Agency LLC, not Apple.
- Lino Agency LLC is responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app or your possession or use of it, including product-liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer-protection or similar legislation.
- If a third party claims that the app or your possession and use of the app infringes that third party's intellectual-property rights, Lino Agency LLC (not Apple) is solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement, and discharge of that claim.
- You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
16. Copyright complaints (DMCA)
If you believe content on Mr. Handy infringes your copyright, send a notice meeting the requirements of 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3) to [email protected]. Include: the work claimed to be infringed, the material you say is infringing, your contact info, a statement of good-faith belief, a statement under penalty of perjury that you are authorised to act, and your signature (electronic is fine).
17. Force majeure
We are not liable for any failure or delay in performance to the extent caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, natural disasters, war, civil unrest, government action, labour disruption, internet or third-party service outages (including outages of cloud, payment, or AI providers we depend on).
18. Severability and entire agreement
If any part of these terms is held to be unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about Mr. Handy and supersede any earlier agreement or understanding on the same subject. No failure or delay by us in enforcing any right is a waiver of that right.
